Where the Story Began

During the rainy season of 2014, JuJuMaMa followed a friend from Taiwan and volunteered at a children's home in Kathmandu. The children had warm and clean quilts, attended school every day, enjoyed hot meals, and received support from caregivers, counselors, and teachers who assisted them with their homework.

While these children were fortunate to receive care and support, JuJuMaMa soon realized that this was not the kind of charity she wanted to pursue. She began asking herself: what would happen if the children's home closed one day or if support could no longer continue? Without education or practical skills, how would these children build independent futures?

Looking within, she discovered the answer in her own talents. She knew music—she could sing and play the piano. She believed that teaching children a skill they could carry throughout their lives would create lasting change.

JuJuMaMa began preparing for the DeLight Music Studio in 2014. However, the devastating 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015 temporarily halted those plans. By the end of 2015, the vision slowly came back to life through the launch of the "Maya – It's Love" Music Assistance Program.

Our Goal

The "Maya – It's Love" Assistance Program focuses on teaching and promoting traditional Nepali musical instruments, especially the Sarangi. Preserving the beauty of Nepal's traditional music and passing it on to younger generations is at the heart of our mission.

Our goals include systematically training teachers, introducing musical notation and reading skills, improving traditional instruments, and developing educational materials for future generations.

JuJuMaMa Children's Education and Care Association, a non-profit organization based in Taiwan, and DeLight, an NGO located in Nepal, work together to provide life skills and educational opportunities to underprivileged children.

These children come from different backgrounds and have their own unique stories. They never lack smiles on their faces, but what they often lack is hope for a brighter future.

Like all children, they dream of going to school and receiving an education. Yet for many, these dreams remain out of reach due to financial hardship. Even when one opportunity closes, we believe another door can be opened—a door into the beautiful world of music.

DeLight not only preserves Nepali traditional music and instruments through education, but also serves as a source of hope and inspiration. It is the light that guides children toward confidence, self-reliance, and a brighter future.

JuJuMaMa and DeLight are international partners dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged children through music education. By equipping children with practical life skills, we empower them to build independent futures.

We not only teach music—including Sarangi, Madal, flute, guitar, and other instruments—but also provide Chinese language classes at orphanages.
